It is designed to eliminate common problems with the original valve.<\/p>\n<p>The most common failure of the original solenoid valve is a split diaphragm, which prevents the valve from opening fully or at all. This does not always cause the engine warning light to come on, as boost pressure can still force the valve open. Another problem is the very thin plastic diaphragm retaining ring, which becomes brittle due to temperature cycles and eventually fails. As a result, the diaphragm no longer seals correctly; in extreme cases, the plastic parts can break apart when the valve is removed and enter the turbocharger.<\/p>\n<p>Forge Motorsport offers a piston design without a diaphragm, made entirely from aluminium. The valve replaces the original part with a piston valve that operates on boost pressure and vacuum while retaining the desired factory ECU-controlled opening operation.
