Therefore, when upgrading the intake system, the original engine cover had to be completely removed on many vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>With the FMEC4 carbon fibre engine cover, Abarth owners can upgrade the intake system without losing the tidy appearance of the engine bay. The cover is designed to fit perfectly together with the FMINDF500 intake system kit, while the carbon fibre construction visually matches the carbon fibre housing of this kit.<\/p>\n<p><em>As the cover was specifically designed for use with the FMINDF500 kit, the manufacturer does not recommend or approve its fitment with other aftermarket or original intake systems.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>3D scanning, CAD and 3D printing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>3D scans of an Abarth 595 fitted with the FMINDF500 kit were used during product development. The design is based on the original engine cover, so the FMEC4 matches the appearance of the engine bay. Once development was complete, the first prototype was printed on a Formlabs Form 3L printer.<\/p>\n<p>High-quality carbon fibre improves the appearance of the engine bay and matches the Forge Motorsport carbon fibre intake system housing. The carbon fibre is made from <strong>2\u00d72 twill prepreg<\/strong>, formed in an autoclave using tooling made from solid material, and finished with a gloss gel coat with UV protection.<\/p>\n<p><em>The kit includes everything required for installation.
