It is designed to limit the radiant heat generated by the turbochargers and help protect and extend the service life of surrounding engine components.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Riveted stainless steel elements<\/li>\n<li>Stainless steel fastening hardware<\/li>\n<li>Outer layer made from carbon fibre fabric<\/li>\n<li>Inner core made from calcium magnesium silicate wool<\/li>\n<li>High-temperature silicate fabric<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The special design helps limit turbo lag and reduce intake air temperature. The material loses some of its flexibility after the first few heat cycles as it hardens, so routinely removing the heat shields after installation is not recommended, as this may damage them.<\/p>\n<p>The heat shield retains exhaust gas heat on the hot side of the turbocharger and moves it away from the cold side and intake path.
