It uses a bar-and-plate core design and cast end tanks developed using Solidworks CAD software and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.<\/p>\n<p>The turbo-side end tanks have an internal divider that ensures efficient use of the entire volume of the stepped core. Compared with the standard intercooler, the core has 129% greater volume and more than 71% greater frontal area. A purpose-built air guide is also incorporated into the design to improve cooling efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>The inlet and outlet diameter has been increased to 65 mm, providing 27% greater volume compared with the standard intercooler and improved flow. A custom hard hose is also included, with its diameter increased from the standard 50 mm to 64 mm. It is fitted on the hot side and replaces the factory hose. The intercooler and boost hose are protected with a black textured powder-coated finish.<\/p>\n<p>During dyno testing, the vehicle was first heat-soaked until the radiator fans were switching on and off, indicating an intake air temperature of approximately 40 \u00b0C. A test run was then carried out, making the results more comparable and closer to actual driving conditions. The Forge intercooler cooled down more quickly and achieved a significantly greater temperature drop than the standard intercooler.<\/p>\n<p>After more than six test runs, the intake air temperatures (IAT) remained safe. The Forge Motorsport intercooler reached 24 \u00b0C, while the standard intercooler reached 48 \u00b0C. Testing was carried out at a dyno cell temperature of 15 \u00b0C. At higher ambient temperatures, the standard intercooler and higher intake air temperature can significantly affect engine performance, as the ECU retards the ignition timing to prevent detonation.<\/p>\n<p>On the tested vehicle, the intercooler combined with an intake system and a quality sports cat-back exhaust achieved 307 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque, compared with the factory-stated 275 bhp and 278 lb.ft.<\/p>\n<p>The kit includes the required fitting hardware.
