This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.

When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.

Deformation and twisting of the chassis when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
