This Bull-X downpipe has an 89 mm upper section and is designed for all VAG 1.8\/2.0 T(F)SI models with the \u201c1K\u201d platform.<\/p>\n<p>Would you like to achieve more power from your turbocharged engine while also reducing the load on the turbocharger and surrounding components? The downpipe has a significant effect on response and power. It forms the link between the turbocharger and the exhaust system. The larger the downpipe diameter and the greater the catalytic converter flow, the more easily the turbocharger can discharge the processed exhaust gases through the exhaust system. This has a positive effect on torque and power. The increased flow also produces a deeper, sportier sound.<\/p>\n<p>This downpipe is suitable for standard and performance-upgraded vehicles. Fitting can provide an increase in power, improved response and lower exhaust gas temperatures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> For vehicles with a manual gearbox, we recommend additionally selecting the optional torque mount. This downpipe is not suitable for vehicles with a DSG gearbox.<\/p>\n<h3>Advantages<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>increased power because the turbocharger can discharge the exhaust gases more easily;<\/li>\n<li>more torque because the turbocharger\u2019s exhaust turbine reaches higher rotational speeds more quickly, while the sports catalytic converter allows a greater mass of exhaust gas to be discharged with reduced back pressure;<\/li>\n<li>reduced thermal load on the turbocharger and surrounding components due to the flow-optimised construction with a larger cross-section;<\/li>\n<li>no flow-restricting edges at the downpipe inlet thanks to the stainless steel cast flange used;<\/li>\n<li>pipe diameter: upper section 3.5\u2033\/89 mm and lower section 3\u2033\/76 mm;<\/li>\n<li>available without a catalytic converter, with a 100-cell sports catalytic converter, with a 200-cell sports catalytic converter, with a Bull-X 200-cell EOBD sports catalytic converter by HJS, or with a 200-cell HJS sports catalytic converter including ECE approval;<\/li>\n<li>excellent compensation for engine movement through the use of a flexible pipe with Interlock technology. The flexible pipe is 150 mm long; its Interlock construction prevents the braid from collapsing, provides additional stability and optimises exhaust gas flow;<\/li>\n<li>manufactured from brushed stainless steel and TIG welded;<\/li>\n<li>includes an adapter for the original exhaust system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After fitting the downpipe, the tolerance value of the post-catalytic-converter lambda sensor will generally need to be adjusted if a version with approval has not been selected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Road use:<\/strong> For use on public roads, only the version with an HJS catalytic converter carrying ECE approval, or the corresponding HJS version specified in the selection, is approved. Versions without a catalytic converter and versions with 100- or 200-cell sports catalytic converters without ECE approval are intended exclusively for track use.<\/p>\n<h3>Catalytic converter information<\/h3>\n<p>When selecting a downpipe without a catalytic converter or with a 100\/200-cell catalytic converter, the ECU may display a fault from the post-catalytic-converter lambda sensor. This does not affect driving characteristics because the first lambda sensor remains in place and is responsible for engine management. The post-catalytic-converter sensor is only used to monitor catalytic converter efficiency. The fault can be removed by adjusting the software.<\/p>\n<p>Most vehicles up to Euro 3 emissions standard do not have a post-catalytic-converter lambda sensor, allowing installation without further adjustment or a fault message. HJS ECE and EOBD catalytic converters have a significantly higher Washcoat content and very high oxygen storage capacity, which can prevent fault messages. The EOBD catalytic converters have been tested for this purpose up to Euro 4. Their durability and use up to Euro 6 emissions standard are assured.
