Then the downpipe is the right place to start. It has a major effect on response and performance and forms the link between the turbocharger and the exhaust system. The larger the pipe diameter, the more easily the turbocharger can discharge the processed exhaust gases through the exhaust system. This has a positive effect on torque and power.<\/p>\n<p>Benefits at a glance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the turbocharger can discharge exhaust gases more easily, resulting in increased power;<\/li>\n<li>more torque, as the turbocharger reaches operating speed more quickly;<\/li>\n<li>lower exhaust gas temperature, helping to protect the exhaust manifold and turbocharger.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Road use:<\/strong> This downpipe is intended solely for use on a racetrack. For use on public roads, only the combination with an HJS catalytic converter carrying EG approval is permitted. Downpipes without a catalytic converter, and versions with 100- or 200-cell catalytic converters or other converters without EG approval, are intended for racetrack use only.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Catalytic converter information:<\/strong> When selecting a downpipe without a catalytic converter or with a 100\/200-cell catalytic converter, the engine control unit may display a fault from the post-catalytic lambda sensor. This does not affect driving behaviour because the first lambda sensor, which controls the engine, remains installed. The post-catalytic sensor is used only to monitor catalytic converter efficiency. The fault can be removed by adapting the software with a tuning specialist.<\/p>\n<p>Most vehicles up to the Euro 3 emissions standard do not have a post-catalytic lambda sensor, so installation is possible without further adjustment or a fault message. HJS ECE and EOBD catalytic converters have a significantly higher Washcoat content and very high oxygen-storage capacity, which can prevent fault messages. The EOBD catalytic converters have been tested for this application up to Euro 4. Their durability and use are suitable up to the Euro 6 emissions standard.
