This differs from one vehicle to another. As a rule of thumb for tuned engines, an increase of up to 5\u201310 % can be expected.<\/p>\n<p>At least equally important is the fact that, at high ambient temperatures, the intercooler helps prevent power loss or the activation of the thermal protection stored in many engine control units. Increasing a vehicle\u2019s power through chip tuning also increases charge pressure in 99% of cases. With the standard intercooler fitted, charge-pressure loss rises exponentially.
