Coilovers – Gewinde — Tuners Capital

Coilovers (Gewinde): how to choose the right set for your car?

Upgrading to coilovers, colloquially called “Gewinde”, is the ultimate step for anyone who wants full control over their car’s ride height and handling. With the market flooded by different manufacturers and models, the question quickly arises: which suspension is right for me?

To make the decision easier, we have divided our range of coilovers (Gewinde) into three main categories, according to your needs and budget.

1. Entry level: Affordable lowering

If your main goal is improving the car’s stance and you want to lower it on a limited budget, the entry level is the right choice. These offer basic height adjustment and a slightly firmer ride. They are suitable for everyday driving without extreme loads.

  • TA Technix: An extremely popular choice for beginners, offering excellent value for money.
  • JOM: A reliable, affordable alternative, ideal for first steps into the world of modifying.

2. Mid range: The sweet spot for more demanding drivers

For those who want a more balanced ride and better materials, we recommend the mid range. These often include more advanced components (galvanised bodies against rust, better dampers), which means more comfort while staying sporty.

  • MTS Technik: Excellent build quality and comfortable damping, often developed together with Eibach.
  • AP Sportfahrwerke: A brand that shares a lot of know-how with the premium segment, delivering excellent handling and durability.

3. Premium range: Uncompromising performance

If you are after total control of the car, top-class stainless materials and, besides ride height, often damping adjustment (rebound/bump) too, the premium range is where you belong. It is aimed at experienced enthusiasts and those who make no compromises.

  • ST Suspensions: A subsidiary brand of KW. Top engineering and handling at a slightly more affordable price (usually a galvanised body).
  • KW Suspensions: The top of the range. A stainless steel body, advanced adjustment and unmatched quality for the most demanding roads.
  • BC Racing: Extremely advanced suspension, ideal for tuning and track use. Note: In most cases these systems they have no TÜV approval, so they are intended solely for track days and use away from public roads.

Conclusion: Choosing the right suspension depends on your goals, driving style and budget. Whether you choose an entry-level set for better looks or a premium system for improving your lap times, it is important to choose a system that meets your needs – and, of course, to have it properly approved after professional installation.
