Bull-X downpipe 3.5″/89 mm for VAG 2.0 T(F)SI CULC 180/220 PS

Bull-X produces downpipes to the highest standard. This Bull-X downpipe features an 89 mm upper section and is designed for all VAG 2.0 T(F)SI models with the CULC engine code.

Would you like to achieve more power from your turbocharged engine while also reducing the load on the turbocharger and surrounding components? The downpipe has a significant effect on response and power, as it forms the connection between the turbocharger and the exhaust system. The larger the downpipe diameter and the greater the catalytic converter flow, the more easily the turbocharger can discharge the processed exhaust gases through the exhaust system. This has a positive effect on torque and power. The increased flow also produces a deeper, more purposeful exhaust note.

This downpipe is suitable for both standard and performance-modified vehicles. Its installation can provide increased power, improved throttle response and lower exhaust gas temperatures.

Advantages at a glance:

• increased power because the turbocharger can discharge the exhaust gases more easily,
• more torque because the turbocharger exhaust turbine reaches higher speeds more quickly, as the sports catalytic converter can discharge a greater exhaust gas mass due to the lower back pressure,

• choice of a version without a catalytic converter, with a 100-cell sports catalytic converter, with a 200-cell sports catalytic converter, with a Bull-X 200-cell EOBD sports catalytic converter by HJS, or with a 200-cell HJS sports catalytic converter including ECE approval,
• effective compensation for engine movement through the 150 mm-long flex pipe with Interlock technology. Its construction prevents the braid from collapsing, provides additional stability and optimises exhaust gas flow,
• manufactured from brushed stainless steel and TIG welded,
• adapter for the original exhaust system included.

After installing the downpipe, the tolerance value of the post-catalytic-converter oxygen sensor will generally need to be adjusted unless a version with approval has been selected. On most vehicles up to Euro 3 emissions standard, no post-catalytic-converter oxygen sensor is fitted, so installation is possible without further adjustment or warning messages. The post-catalytic sensor monitors catalytic converter operation, while the first oxygen sensor is used for engine management. Any warning message can be removed by adapting the software.

HJS ECE and EOBD catalytic converters have a significantly higher Washcoat content, providing very high oxygen storage capacity and potentially preventing warning messages. The EOBD catalytic converters have been tested for this purpose up to Euro 4 emissions standard; durability and use are nevertheless suitable up to Euro 6. On Euro 5/6 vehicles, the points mentioned above can only be avoided by selecting a catalytic converter with ECE approval.

Road use: Only the version with the HJS catalytic converter carrying ECE approval is suitable for use on public roads. Versions without a catalytic converter and versions with 100-cell or 200-cell sports catalytic converters without ECE approval are intended exclusively for track use.

Only the version marked “road legal” has a European ECE / EC approval (Bull-X Tronic controller with ECE or the HJS EC catalytic converter).
