CTS Turbo intercooler kit for VAG 2.0T EA113/EA888.1 (MK5/MK6)

The CTS Turbo direct-fit FMIC kit is designed for 2.0T EA113 and EA888.1 engines and is a direct replacement for the original front-mounted intercooler (FMIC). Installation requires no cutting or modification of the bumper. The original FMIC is suitable for standard boost pressures, but when pressure is increased through an ECU upgrade or software optimisation, it has more difficulty keeping charge air temperatures under control. Higher charge air temperatures can cause boost cut and ignition timing retard, reducing engine power.

The CTS Turbo FMIC uses an efficient bar-and-plate core construction that helps reduce pressure drop. A lower pressure drop means the turbo has to work less hard to achieve a given boost pressure. If the turbo generates 30 psi of boost pressure and the intercooler causes a pressure drop of 10 psi, the control unit will measure 20 psi. With an efficient FMIC, the turbo can reach the desired boost pressure more easily, its operation is more efficient, and the charge air is cooler and denser.

Compatibility limitations

• For models with the EA888.1 engine, the kit is compatible only with the EA888.1 version.
• For Volkswagen Tiguan models, the kit is intended for FWD versions; customised hoses are required for 4Motion all-wheel-drive versions.
• For Audi TT models with a Gen2 engine and variable valve lift, a turbocharger outlet hose and mounting clip with the part numbers 1K0145840R and 1K0145769J are required.
• The kit is not compatible with the factory intercooler with the part number 1K0145803P.
