EGO-X 3.5″/89 mm exhaust system for VW Golf 8 R 320/333 PS

This EGO-X exhaust system for the VW Golf 8 R has a pipe diameter of 3.5″ (89 mm). It has also been tested in combination with Stage 1 (415 PS) and Stage 2 (457 PS) performance upgrades, as well as with other components such as HF-Series intercoolers, HF-Series intake systems, boost pipes and/or the Bull-X ECE downpipe.

The OEM exhaust system can produce an unpleasant drone at certain engine speeds, which this system significantly reduces. With the valve closed, the EGO-X exhaust system is quieter and more comfortable to drive with than the standard system. With the valve open, it produces a sound character suited to the R model.

If the vehicle has selectable drive profiles, the system can be controlled through this function. For vehicles without selectable drive profiles, a switch is supplied. The switch LED indicates the valve position: the light is off when the valve is open and on when it is closed.

With the ECE version, the Bull-X Tronic control unit automatically closes the valve in all areas required by the approval conditions, regardless of the selected driving mode. Two control options are available:

• Within the approved ECE operating range, the valve is open while driving; on this model it is also open when stationary. Between 20 and 80 km/h, the valve is always closed.
• In Comfort mode, the valve is always closed, but opens while driving within the approved ECE operating range once the throttle is more than 75% open.

On versions without ECE approval, the valve can be operated using a switch, remote control or Bull-X Tronic “Race” CAN-Bus control unit. The available modes are Sport (Dynamic, Race) and Comfort; in Comfort mode, the valve opens once the throttle is more than 75% open.

Road use: Legal use on public roads requires the ECE version with the Bull-X Tronic control unit carrying ECE approval and an EG-approved catalytic converter. Versions with other control units and/or catalytic converters are intended solely for track use.

Suitable for: VW Golf VIII (CD1).
