EGO-X 3.5″ exhaust system ECE for BMW 335i/340i F30/F31

This EGO-X exhaust system for the BMW F30/F31 335i/340i is hand-built using TIG welding and consists of absorption silencers without chambers. The pipe diameter is 3.5″ (89 mm).

Note: On the 3.35i, part of the OEM exhaust system must be reused and cut. This is the approximately 50 cm-long section containing the oval flex pipe. The OEM oval pipe has an 83 mm connection diameter where the adapter is fitted. Producing the system from the downpipe in 89 mm is not possible because of the position of the OEM downpipe on the 35i models; otherwise, this section would have to be made in 76 mm, creating an 8 mm smaller cross-section than the standard system and therefore a restriction. This is the only solution that allows the greatest possible performance gain.

Note: On vehicles with an OPF, the petrol particulate filter is located underneath the vehicle and integrated into the OEM exhaust system. The OEM exhaust system must first be cut behind the OPF, after which the EGO-X exhaust system is fitted at the cut point with its adapter pipe and a clamp. On some production runs of OEM BMW exhaust systems, the pipes were made completely oval, so fitting with a clamp is not possible. In this case, the adapter pipe must be welded; the work takes approximately 15–20 minutes.

Note: Not suitable for vehicles with a towbar.

With the Bull-X Tronic control unit, the valve can be controlled through the vehicle’s driving profile selection, if fitted. For vehicles without driving profile selection, the supplied switch can be used. The switch LED indicates the valve position: when the light is off, the valve is open; when it is on, the valve is closed.

The Bull-X Tronic control unit provides two operating modes:

• Sport (Dynamic, Race): within the permitted ECE range, the valve is always open; when stationary, it is always closed.
• Comfort: the valve is always closed, but opens while driving within the permitted ECE range once the throttle is at least 75% open.

Road use: ECE approval applies to the version with the Bull-X Tronic control unit with ECE approval and an EG catalytic converter. Other combinations of control units and/or catalytic converters are intended for track use only.

Suitable for: BMW 3 VI (F30/F31/F34/F80).

Only the version marked “road legal” has a European ECE / EC approval (Bull-X Tronic controller with ECE or the HJS EC catalytic converter).
