This EGO-X exhaust system for the BMW F30/F31 335i/340i is hand-built using TIG welding and features absorption silencers without chambers. The pipe diameter is 3.5″ (89 mm).

Important notes
Note 1: On the 335i, part of the original exhaust system must be used and cut. This is the approximately 50 cm section containing the oval flex pipe. The oval OEM pipe has an 83 mm connection diameter where the adapter is fitted. A system in 89 mm from the downpipe is not possible because of the position of the OEM downpipe on the 335i models. Producing this section in 76 mm would give an 8 mm smaller cross-section than standard and create a restriction. This is therefore the only design that allows the greatest possible performance gain.
Note 2: On vehicles with an OPF, the petrol particulate filter is located underneath the vehicle and integrated into the OEM exhaust system. The OEM exhaust must first be cut behind the OPF, after which the EGO-X exhaust system is fitted to the cut section using the adapter pipe and a clamp. On some production batches of OEM BMW exhaust systems, the pipes are completely oval, making clamp installation impossible. In this case, the adapter pipe must be welded in place. The required work takes approximately 15–20 minutes.
Note 3: Not suitable for vehicles with a tow bar.

Valve control
On vehicles with drive-mode selection, the valve can be controlled through this function. On vehicles without drive-mode selection, a supplied switch is used for control. The switch LED indicates the valve status: when the light is off, the valve is open; when it is on, the valve is closed.
With the Bull-X Tronic control unit, two control modes are available:
- Sport (Dynamic, Race): the valve remains open while driving within the approved ECE range and is always closed when stationary.
- Comfort: the valve remains closed, but opens while driving within the approved ECE range from 75% throttle opening.
Road use: ECE approval applies only to the combination with the Bull-X Tronic control unit with ECE approval and the EG catalytic converter. This version may be used on public roads without being entered in the vehicle documents. Versions with other control units and/or catalytic converters are intended for track use only.
Suitable for: BMW 3 VI (F30/F31/F34/F80).

Only the version marked “road legal” has a European ECE / EC approval (Bull-X Tronic controller with ECE or the HJS EC catalytic converter).
