This EGO-X exhaust system for the BMW F32 435i/440i and F36 440i Gran Coupé is hand-built using TIG welding. It consists of absorption silencers without chambers. The pipe diameter is 3.5″ (89 mm). Whether the vehicle has rear-wheel drive or xDrive all-wheel drive, the system delivers a distinctive, characterful sound.

Important notes
Note 1: On the 435i, part of the original exhaust system must be retained and cut. This is the approximately 50 cm section containing the oval flex pipe. The original oval pipe has a connection diameter of 83 mm where the adapter is fitted. A 89 mm system from the downpipe is not possible because of the position of the original downpipe on the 435i models; this would require that section to be made in 76 mm. That would create an 8 mm smaller cross-section than standard and therefore a restriction. As the exhaust systems are designed for the greatest possible performance gain, this is the only suitable solution.
Note 2: On vehicles with an OPF, the petrol particulate filter is located underneath the vehicle and integrated into the original exhaust system. The original exhaust must first be cut behind the OPF, after which the EGO-X exhaust system is fitted at the cut point using the adapter pipe and a clamp. On some production batches of original BMW exhaust systems, the pipes were made completely oval, leaving no suitable section for clamp fitting. In this case, the adapter pipe must be welded; the work takes approximately 15–20 minutes.
Note 3: Not suitable for vehicles with a towbar.

Road use
The version with the Bull-X Tronic control unit with ECE approval and an EG catalytic converter is homologated for public-road use without being entered in the vehicle documents. Other control units and/or catalytic converters are intended for race-track use only. With the ECE version, the control unit automatically closes the valve in all areas required by the approval. In Sport (Dynamic, Race) mode, the valve remains open while driving within the permitted ECE range and is closed when stationary. In Comfort mode, the valve remains closed and opens while driving within the permitted ECE range from 75% throttle opening. Vehicles with drive-profile selection can control the valve through this function; vehicles without it use the supplied button.
Suitable for: BMW 4 I (F32/F33/F36/F82/F83).

Only the version marked “road legal” has a European ECE / EC approval (Bull-X Tronic controller with ECE or the HJS EC catalytic converter).
