EGO-X 3.5″ exhaust system for VW Golf 8 R (CD1), export version without ECE

This EGO-X exhaust system without ECE approval for the VW Golf 8 R is hand-built from stainless steel. The pipe diameter is 3.5″ (89 mm). It is an export version without road approval and uses one of the two original electric valve actuators. The left-hand OEM actuator is used, as it is always open in Race mode.

The entire system is made from stainless steel and TIG welded. The silencer uses absorption technology, providing a deep, full-bodied sound even when the valve is closed.

This exhaust system is suitable for standard vehicles as well as vehicles with uprated engines. For valve control, the left-hand OEM actuator is simply transferred to the EGO-X exhaust system and fitted using a direct-fit installation. The right-hand actuator is disabled with a connector or deactivator, which is included in the delivery.

Only the left-hand valve has been retained in order to reduce unpleasant resonance. When stationary, both valves open in Race mode, so the valve can still be opened while using the OEM control. Under full throttle while driving, the left-hand valve also opens, then closes again at a certain engine speed or load to reduce unpleasant frequency ranges. The OEM exhaust system produces droning in this area, which is significantly reduced with the EGO-X system. Once the valve is closed, the EGO-X is quieter and more comfortable to drive with than the standard system.

If you want the valve to remain permanently open in all modes and across the entire operating range, the EGO-X can be combined with the Bull-X Tronic Valve-control. The valve position can then be controlled via an app.

Road use: This export version of the EGO-X exhaust system has no ECE approval and is intended exclusively for track use. For legal use on public roads, it may only be combined with the HJS EG-approved catalytic converter; all other catalytic converters and decat pipes are intended for track use only.
