This EGO-X exhaust system for the VW Golf 5 GTI is hand-built using TIG welding and features absorption silencers without chambers. The system exits on the left-hand side and uses 3-inch (76 mm) pipework.

Valve control operation
If the vehicle has selectable driving profiles, the valve can also be controlled through this system. On vehicles without selectable driving profiles, control is provided by the supplied button. The button’s LED indicates the valve position: the valve is open when the light is off and closed when the light is on.
In Sport (Dynamic, Race) mode, the valve remains open while driving within the limits of the homologation requirements, and is closed when stationary. In Comfort mode, the valve remains closed and opens while driving within the permitted range from 75% throttle opening.
Road use: ECE approval applies only when the Bull-X Tronic control unit with ECE approval is selected. Legal use on public roads also requires the combination with an EG catalytic converter. Versions with the Bull-X Tronic Race control unit, switch or remote control, as well as other combinations without ECE approval, are intended for track use only.

Only the version marked “road legal” has a European ECE / EC approval (Bull-X Tronic controller with ECE or the HJS EC catalytic converter).
