We recommend servicing the valve every 3 years or every 20,000 miles – whichever comes first.
This blow-off valve is intended for Citroen DS3 vehicles with a 1.6 Turbo engine and an electronically controlled diverter valve. It is recommended for vehicles with increased boost pressure due to an ECU software upgrade, as well as unmodified vehicles operating in a warmer climate, as it eliminates common failures of the original valve.
The problem with the original valve is the very thin plastic retaining ring for the diaphragm, which becomes brittle due to temperature cycles and eventually fails. The failure does not always trigger the engine warning light, as boost pressure may still open the valve. As a result, you may not notice any loss of power. The diaphragm can therefore no longer seal properly.
When removing it, the valve may even fall apart, and in extreme cases, pieces of plastic may enter the turbocharger and cause serious damage.
Forge Motorsport offers a structurally improved solution with significantly greater reliability. The valve operates using a piston without a diaphragm that could fail and is made entirely from aluminium. It replaces the original valve with a pressure- or vacuum-controlled piston valve while retaining the desired factory actuation control via the ECU. The valve has been tested for several years on VAG Group vehicles. The spring can be replaced for different boost pressure levels, while the solenoid connects with the included wiring harness on a plug-and-play basis.
