Forge Motorsport induction system for Ford Fiesta VIII (MK8)

FMINDK38 is a cold air intake system for Ford’s latest-generation three-cylinder 1.5-litre ST engine. The system was developed through extensive testing to provide improved airflow compared with the standard air filter.

The kit uses Forge’s pleated performance air filter, selected after testing in real-world driving conditions and on a dynamometer. The filter features a high-quality, high-flow synthetic nanofibre filter medium. The pleated design increases the filtration area, thereby improving airflow.

The filter connects to the anodised black machined aluminium housing using a high-quality silicone coupler and stainless steel W2 hose clamps. The MAF sensor housing with velocity stack geometry was developed to provide the smoothest possible airflow towards the MAF sensor and intake pipe.

The combination of the filter and MAF sensor housing produced a total increase of 4 bhp during testing. An increase in torque was also measured between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm, and again from 4,500 rpm to the redline. An increase of 20 Nm was achieved at 2,200 rpm. On a modified vehicle, the standard air intake system can limit the ability to achieve optimum power and consistent power delivery.

The system also improves the sound character of the 1.5-litre engine: under hard acceleration it produces a more pronounced intake sound, while lifting off the throttle produces turbo flutter. A laser-cut and powder-coated aluminium heat shield is included to protect against heat from the engine bay. It surrounds the filter and uses the standard air duct to supply cold air to the intake system.

The kit can be installed on the original intake pipe or connected to Forge’s silicone intake hose FMINLH21. It can also be used with intake hoses from other manufacturers and with the original Ford intake hose.
