Forge Motorsport induction system for Renault Megane IV 280/300

The Forge Motorsport induction system for the Renault Megane RS 280/300 was developed based on extensive dynamometer testing and flow analysis. Three main objectives were pursued in its design:

• maintaining a low intake air temperature compared with other aftermarket induction systems,
• improved airflow,
• a more attractive appearance and tidier-looking engine bay.

To limit intake air temperature, the PRORam filter is enclosed in a sheet aluminium airbox designed using CAD modelling. The original airbox is located at the rear of the engine bay, where it becomes very hot, so the design protects the induction system from heat as effectively as possible. Both original air ducts are included; they deliver as much cold air as possible to the filter and help maintain a low intake air temperature.

After testing various air filters, the best result was achieved with the PRORam performance air filter. The system uses a large velocity stack, in which a filter with a high-quality synthetic nanofibre filter medium is installed. The pleated design increases the filtration area and improves airflow to the turbocharger.

In testing, the Forge Motorsport induction system achieved an improvement of +15 bhp, even though the temperature in the test cell increased by +3 °C. The greatest result was achieved with a combination of the FMINDK31 and FMTIA4 systems: +20 bhp, together with higher torque in the lower rev range and improved throttle response.

The black textured powder-coated finish gives the airbox an OEM appearance. The cold side of the airbox is open for improved air intake and visibility of the PRORam filter. The quality of construction is highlighted by the machined MAF sensor mount and precisely laser-cut brackets.

The kit is compatible with the original Renault turbo intake pipe and intake pipes from other manufacturers. The silicone hoses have an inner lining made from modified silicone, known as fluorosilicone, making them suitable for use with long-life coolants, organic acid technology (O.A.T.) coolants and air containing oil mist.
