FMINT26 is an upgraded intercooler for the Audi A4 TFSI from 2020 onwards with the 2.0 TSI engine in 150, 190, 245 and 252 BHP versions. It replaces the original part with the number 8W0 145 805 AD. The aim of the development was to improve charge-air cooling efficiency and thereby increase vehicle performance, while the intercooler occupies the original space without requiring vehicle modifications.

The development used a bar-and-plate design, Solidworks computer-aided modelling and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to produce a flow-efficient end tank. The sheet-metal construction helps dissipate heat and reduces weight. The core has more than 139% greater volume and more than 38% greater frontal area compared with the original cooler. Despite its greater volume, the FMINT26 is designed for direct installation without vehicle modifications.

Testing was carried out on a vehicle with standard software and on a four-wheel-drive, hydraulically linked Dyno system from Dimsport. An increase of 5 BHP in power and 5.2 Nm in torque was measured. Improvements begin to appear at approximately 3,000 rpm and increase steadily up to the rev limiter. This is the area where the standard TFSI engine is weaker. When using Stage 1 software and a sports exhaust system, the performance of the intercooler and engine can be used more effectively. Consistent improvements in intake air temperatures (IAT) were also recorded.

FMINT26 is protected with a black anti-corrosion powder coating that protects the intercooler from demanding environmental conditions and contributes to its thermal properties.
