Following the successful intercooler for the RS3 8V platform, Forge Motorsport presents an intercooler for the TT RS (8S), continuing the development of its cores by improving performance in real-world driving conditions and reducing charge air temperatures more effectively. Although the 8V and TT RS 8S platforms share many components, the space behind the bumper is a different shape, and the bumper reinforcement has also been modified. Therefore, an entirely new intercooler with a new bumper reinforcement design was developed for this generation.
The TTRS core measures 640 × 250 × 100 and uses a bar-and-plate design. It therefore has a 56% larger surface area than the original and an impressive 94% larger volume. The end tanks have integrated pipes, allowing you to use the original boost hoses. If desired, these can be replaced with the Forge Motorsport boost hose kit FMKT024. As with the 8V platform, the kit includes the original Audi TTRS bumper reinforcement, modified to accommodate the larger core. Both the reinforcement and the core are then protected with a standard black crackle-effect powder coating that ensures a long service life.
For both dynamometer measurements, the vehicle was first warmed up until the radiator fans switched on and off, resulting in an intake temperature of 36 °C. A test run was then carried out. This procedure provides more comparable results and better replicates everyday driving conditions. The Forge intercooler cooled down considerably faster and achieved a significantly greater temperature reduction compared with the original.
With the test vehicle running Stage 1 software optimisation and exhaust modifications, the original configuration achieved 470.5 bhp, while the highest intake air temperature was 76 °C. With the Forge Motorsport intercooler installed and no other changes, the same vehicle achieved 520.8 bhp, while the highest intake temperature was 34 °C. This represents a gain of 50 bhp and a temperature reduction of 41 °C. Results may be even more pronounced on vehicles with Stage 2 software optimisation, as the original intercooler core already begins to struggle significantly with the thermal load at Stage 1.
The kit includes everything required for installation, including detailed instructions. The estimated installation time is approximately 3–4 hours.
Suitable for: Audi Ttrs II (8S).
