For the RS250/265/275 models, the original cooler is known to have a weakness in hot climates. Therefore, a front-mounted intercooler was developed with minimal restriction of airflow to the original cooler and significantly improved cooling compared with the original intercooler.
By using a high-efficiency intercooler core and adapting the airflow with front air ducts, an effective cooling upgrade solution was created. Test results show an increase of 12 bhp and a gain of 10 ft/lbs of torque throughout the rev range. The difference is noticeable while driving, as power remains available for longer as the revs rise.
The stated performance figures were measured on standard engines and Stage 1 engines equipped with the standard turbocharger. Results may vary on heavily modified engines fitted with higher-flow turbochargers.
