Forge Motorsport recirculation valve for BMW 1 Series II (F20/F21) N13 1.6 Turbo

We recommend servicing the valve every 3 years or 20,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The recirculation valve is designed for BMW N13 1.6 Turbo engines with an electronically controlled bypass valve. The engine is fitted in vehicles with the F20/F21 body styles and 114i, 116i, 118i and 120i designations. It is recommended for vehicles where boost pressure has been increased with an ECU software upgrade, as well as for unmodified vehicles operating in warmer climates. It solves common failures in which the original rubber diaphragm ruptures, resulting in a loss of boost pressure. The failure does not always trigger the engine warning light, as the boost pressure can still open the valve, meaning that you may not notice any loss of power.

The Forge Motorsport valve is a structurally improved solution with significantly greater reliability. It is piston-based and has no diaphragm that could fail, and is made entirely from aluminium. It replaces the original assembly with a pressure- or vacuum-controlled piston valve while retaining the desired original ECU control of valve opening. The internal spring can be replaced with a stronger or weaker version, depending on the boost pressure.
