Forge Motorsport recirculation valve for Citroen DS3 I 1.6 Turbo

We recommend servicing the valve every 3 years or 20,000 miles, whichever comes first.

This quiet-operating recirculation valve is intended for Citroen DS3 1.6 Turbo engines with an electronically controlled bypass valve. It is recommended for vehicles where boost pressure has been increased with an ECU software upgrade, as well as for unmodified vehicles operating in warmer climates, as it eliminates a common failure of the original valve.

The problem with the original valve is its very thin plastic diaphragm retaining ring, which becomes brittle due to thermal cycles and eventually fails. The failure does not always trigger the engine warning light, as the boost pressure can still open the valve. The driver may therefore not notice that power is being lost as a result. The diaphragm can no longer seal properly. With this failure, the valve can also disintegrate when removed from the turbocharger; in extreme cases, plastic fragments can enter the turbocharger and cause serious damage.

Forge Motorsport has developed a solution with significantly greater reliability. The valve uses a piston instead of a diaphragm, so it has no diaphragm that can fail, and it is made entirely from aluminium. It replaces the original valve with a pressure- or vacuum-controlled piston valve, while retaining the desirable factory ECU control of activation. The valve has been tested on VAG Group vehicles for several years. The spring can be replaced for different boost pressure levels, while the solenoid valve is directly compatible with the wiring; the wiring loom is included.
