Replacement turbocharger actuator for the Saab 9000 Aero with a TD04 turbocharger. The piston-style design is intended to provide a longer service life compared with the factory diaphragm actuator.
The actuator can be adjusted using different springs according to the required setup. The supplied spring is suitable for the factory boost pressure or slightly higher pressure. A stiffer spring is also available.
The actuator is intended to increase the boost pressure of the turbocharging system, but the setting must always be matched to the capabilities of the engine management system (ECU), regardless of whether it is a factory or aftermarket system.
Forge Motorsport also offers actuator housings, external components and fasteners made from stainless steel, which are suitable for more demanding conditions, including exposure to marine corrosion.
Important: for this product, the supplier lists a diaphragm-sealed interior as the default option, while a piston-sealed version is also available. The piston-style version provides comparable performance and requires less maintenance thanks to its more durable internal components.
All actuator rods are made from 303-grade stainless steel.
The specified spring pressures according to the colour markings apply only to the mechanical part of the system and can be used directly with older turbocharged engines that are not controlled by an ECU or solenoid valve.
On modern engines with control via the ECU or a solenoid valve, the target boost pressure does not need to correspond to the mechanical spring specification. If you are unsure about the correct spring choice for your model and planned level of modification, consult a qualified tuner.
