GFB short shifter for Subaru STi 2002–2026

GFB STi 6-speed short shifter kit

The GFB 4002 kit is designed for 6-speed Subaru STi gearboxes from model year 2002 onwards. It is designed for later STi models with a 6-speed gearbox.

The special clamp enables a significantly greater reduction in gear lever throw than replacing the gear lever alone. The GFB throw-reduction clamp does not require the gearbox mechanism to be raised, instead allowing you to choose one of three mounting holes.

The factory STi gearbox has a gear lever throw of 40 mm per gear gate, while the GFB unit is adjustable from the factory setting down to just 22 mm per gear gate. For comparison, most replacement gear levers that replace only the lever can achieve a throw of approximately 30 mm per gear gate without modifying the linkages or surrounding bodywork.

Installation is carried out entirely from inside the vehicle. The supplied special tool makes it easier to remove and install the reverse-lockout cable pin. Installation can usually be completed in approximately 20 minutes.
