STi 6-speed short shifter – basic kit

The GFB basic short shifter kit for the STi 6-speed gearbox (part no. 4003) is designed as an alternative to the original STi sports shifter.

It is based on the popular and unique GFB STi short shifter (part no. 4002), which consists of two main parts: the shifter and the shift linkage clamp. Together, they allow the shift throw to be adjusted across a very wide range.

The basic kit uses the adjustable shifter from kit 4002, but without the shift linkage clamp. It therefore allows the shift throw to be adjusted, but across a slightly smaller range. The kit can later be easily upgraded to kit 4002 by adding the shift linkage clamp.

Why choose the basic kit?

With the full 4002 kit, the shortest settings are too aggressive for some users, particularly on MY06–08 models, where the factory shift throw is shorter than on earlier versions. In this case, the basic kit provides the same result with a more usable adjustment range.

If you later want an even shorter throw, you can add the shift linkage clamp and upgrade the kit to the full 4002 version.

The basic kit is installed from inside the vehicle and takes approximately 30 minutes. A dedicated GFB pin-pressing tool is also included to make installation easier.

Shift throw adjustment

• from the factory setting to approximately 32–35 mm per gear, depending on the model year;
• with the shift linkage clamp added, the range is reduced to approximately 20–22 mm.
