What exactly does an upgraded intercooler provide?

To express the precise power increase provided by an intercooler in figures, many unknown factors must be considered, including factory power variation, other hardware changes and the software used during measurement. Results vary from vehicle to vehicle. As a rule of thumb, tuned engines can achieve up to 5–10% more performance.

Just as important is the fact that, at high outside temperatures, an upgraded intercooler prevents a loss of performance or the activation of the temperature protection stored in many control units. This allows the engine to deliver its full performance, whether it has already been optimised or remains standard in terms of software.
