This upgraded intercooler kit for the Audi S3 8L 1.8T 210/225 PS is a highlight of the HF-Series range. The high-quality Bar’n’Plate core offers excellent cooling performance, even under demanding conditions, while remaining highly robust. It provides high resistance to heat and does not warm up as much as comparable cores from other manufacturers.
The entire system is also designed for optimum flow. Pressure loss is kept to a minimum, while the complete charge-air route was developed using CAD flow analyses. This also includes the end tanks, which are made from high-strength cast aluminium.
Product benefits:
- significantly cooler charge air, improving combustion in the engine;
- quicker response;
- improved flow.
This product is therefore suitable for both standard power and motorsport applications, as it also allows substantially higher power outputs. Each intercooler was built for the relevant vehicle, calculated using flow simulations and tested on a dynamometer. It is fitted to the original mounting points of the original OEM intercooler, so no major modifications are required. Installation can be carried out by customers with a well-equipped toolkit.

What does an upgraded intercooler provide?
Expressing the exact power gain from an intercooler in figures requires many unknown factors to be taken into account, including factory power variation, other hardware changes and the software used during measurement. Results vary from vehicle to vehicle. As a rule of thumb for tuned engines, an increase of up to 5–10 % can be expected.
At least as important is the fact that, in high outside temperatures, the intercooler helps prevent power loss or the activation of the temperature protection programmed into many control units. This allows you to rely on the engine delivering its full power, whether it has already been optimised or remains standard in terms of software.
Recommendation
We recommend using HF-Series intercoolers together with hardware and software optimisation. Reducing back pressure, which relieves the turbocharger, and cooling the charge air, which increases the oxygen content in the combustion chamber and reduces thermal load, delivers effective performance tuning and makes efficient use of the potential of any turbocharged engine.
When tuning a vehicle, charge-air pressure loss must not be overlooked. If vehicle power is increased through chip tuning, charge pressure is also increased in 99% of cases. With the standard intercooler, charge-pressure loss rises exponentially. The turbocharger must therefore work even harder, increasing its thermal load and reducing its service life; high rotational speeds also lead to faster wear.
Our HF-Series intercoolers create the perfect balance between cooling performance and charge-pressure loss.
