HF-Series intercooler for MINI Cooper S/JCW/GP2 R55–R60

This upgraded intercooler for the MINI Cooper S R56/R60, including JCW and GP2 models, is a high-performance product from the HF-Series range. The high-quality HFT core provides excellent cooling performance in demanding conditions while remaining highly robust. It offers high resistance to heat and warms up less than comparable cores from other manufacturers.

The entire system is designed for optimum airflow. Pressure loss is minimal, and the complete charge-air path was developed using CAD flow analysis. The end tanks are also made from high-strength cast aluminium.

What does an upgraded intercooler provide?

The exact power increase cannot be expressed in figures without considering various factors, such as variations in factory power output, other hardware modifications and the software used. Results vary from vehicle to vehicle. As a general guide for tuned engines, an increase of up to 5–10% may be possible.

Just as important, the upgraded intercooler helps prevent power loss at high ambient temperatures and can prevent the temperature protection function programmed into many engine control units from being reached. This allows the engine to deliver its full performance in demanding conditions.

Recommendation

We recommend using the HF-Series intercooler in combination with hardware and software optimisation. Reducing back pressure, which relieves the turbocharger, and cooling the charge air, which increases the oxygen content in the combustion chamber and reduces thermal load, allows the potential of any turbocharged engine to be used efficiently.
