HF-Series intercooler kit for Audi TT 8N 1.8T 150/180 PS

This upgrade intercooler kit for Audi TT 8N models producing 150 PS and 180 PS is a highlight of the HF-Series range. What exactly does an upgrade intercooler provide?

It is not possible to express the exact power increase provided by an intercooler as a single figure, as many unknown factors must be considered, such as factory power variation, other hardware changes and the software used during measurement. This differs from one vehicle to another. As a rule of thumb for tuned engines, an increase of up to 5–10 % may be expected.

At least equally important is the fact that, at high ambient temperatures, an intercooler helps prevent power loss or even the activation of the temperature protection stored in many engine control units. This allows you to rely on the engine delivering its full power, whether it has already been optimised or is to remain standard in terms of software.

Recommendation

We recommend using HF-Series intercoolers in combination with hardware and software optimisation. Reducing back pressure, which relieves the turbocharger, and cooling the charge air, which increases the oxygen content in the combustion chamber and reduces thermal load, allows the potential of every turbocharged engine to be used efficiently.

When carrying out hardware or software tuning, charge pressure loss must not be overlooked. If vehicle power is increased through chip tuning, charge pressure is also increased in 99% of cases. With the standard intercooler still fitted, charge pressure loss rises exponentially. The turbocharger must work harder, increasing its thermal load and reducing its service life; high rotational speeds also accelerate wear. HF-Series intercoolers provide the ideal balance between cooling performance and charge pressure loss.
