HF-Series intercooler kit for Ford Fiesta ST180 Mk.7

This upgraded intercooler for the Ford Fiesta ST 180 is a standout product from the HF-Series range. The high-quality HFT core provides excellent cooling performance in demanding conditions while remaining highly robust. It is resistant to heavy loads and does not heat up as quickly as comparable cores from other manufacturers.

The complete system is designed for optimum airflow. Pressure loss is minimal, and the entire charge-air path was developed using CAD flow analyses. This also includes the intercooler end tanks, which are made from high-strength cast aluminium.

To express the exact power increase from an intercooler in figures, many unknown factors must be considered, including factory power variation, other hardware changes and the software used for the measurement. Results vary from vehicle to vehicle. As a rule of thumb, engines with increased power can achieve up to 5–10% more power.

Just as important, the intercooler helps prevent power loss at high ambient temperatures and can prevent the temperature protection stored in many engine control units from being activated. This allows the engine to deliver its full power consistently.

Recommendation

We recommend using HF-Series intercoolers together with hardware and software optimisation. Reducing back pressure, which relieves the turbocharger, and cooling the charge air, which increases the oxygen content in the combustion chamber and reduces thermal loading, enables the potential of any turbocharged engine to be used efficiently.

When engine power is increased through chip tuning, boost pressure is also increased in 99% of cases. Using the standard intercooler causes boost-pressure loss to increase exponentially. The turbocharger must therefore work harder, increasing its thermal load, reducing its service life and accelerating wear due to higher rotational speeds. HF-Series intercoolers provide the ideal balance between cooling performance and boost-pressure loss.
