The diverter valve kit is essentially a boost-pressure recirculation system that prevents the boost pressure from being slowed when the throttle closes. The advantage of our system is that the pressure is redirected directly in front of the throttle. As the valve in our system is positioned downstream of the intercooler, only cooled air is recirculated.
On many engines, the standard diverter valve is positioned upstream of the intercooler, meaning that only hot, uncooled air is recirculated. The standard valve is built directly into the turbocharger and, over time, is often damaged by continuous exposure to high temperatures, causing it to leak.
A leaking valve results in poorer engine response and loss of performance. In most cases, this is not noticed immediately because the damage develops gradually. The driver therefore becomes accustomed to the increasingly poor response and loss of performance.
The conversion kit allows the valve to be relocated to a cooler area of the system. This prevents heat-related damage and also returns cooler air to the intake system. The cooler the air, the higher its density; higher density improves cylinder filling and therefore increases performance.
The silicone for the conversion kit is available in blue, red or black.
Note: The kit is not compatible with GFB diverter valves. Your intake pipe must have a connection spigot for recirculating air from the diverter valve, as found on our intake systems. On vehicles without a sound amplifier, the additional purchase of product HGPPVAGTP01-2 is required.
