Racingline Performance intercooler – Audi RS3 8V/8Y and TT RS 8S
The 2.5 TFSI engine maintains lower charge-air temperatures even during repeated fast driving and acceleration. The Racingline Performance intercooler is a direct upgrade for the Audi RS3 8V.2, 8Y and TT RS 8S, designed to eliminate the known heat-soak issues of the standard intercooler during intensive driving.
Why the standard intercooler struggles
The standard intercooler in the RS3 and TT RS struggles to meet the demands of the heavily loaded 2.5 TFSI engine, especially in vehicles with upgrades. When intake air temperature (IAT) rises, the engine control unit reduces ignition advance and boost pressure to protect the engine. The result is a noticeable loss of performance during consecutive drives or prolonged load. The standard intercooler then needs time to cool down and restore full performance.
How the Racingline intercooler solves the problem
It features a large plate-and-bar core, which is more efficient than the cheaper tube-and-fin design used in many other aftermarket intercoolers. The stepped core has 70% more volume than the standard unit, allowing it to absorb and dissipate significantly more heat. The result is consistently lower intake air temperatures, less heat soak and a shorter cool-down time between repeated accelerations.
Development focused on balancing maximum possible cooling with the lowest possible pressure losses. This means the larger core does not introduce the response lag that can occur with oversized intercooler upgrades.
