The Racingline spring and damper kit is a complete, fully matched suspension upgrade for the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 GTI and GTD, SEAT Leon Mk3 Cupra and Škoda Octavia vRS Mk3 Hatchback. As the springs and dampers work together as a carefully matched kit, they improve handling, lower the vehicle and retain comfort for everyday use.
The standard suspension on these sports models on the MQB platform is a good compromise for everyday driving, but leaves some room for improvement. Body roll through corners, front-end dive under heavy braking and a slightly softer initial response can limit more dynamic driving. Racingline developed the kit specifically for these models, tuning the dampers to match the spring rate precisely.
What the kit improves
- Lower ride height: 25 mm front and 20 mm rear lowering provides a sportier appearance and a lower centre of gravity.
- Less body roll and brake dive: the vehicle stays flatter through corners and more stable under braking.
- More responsive steering: the response to steering inputs is more direct, so the vehicle enters corners more cleanly and holds its line better.
- Comfort for everyday driving: the setup retains good compliance over uneven surfaces and poorer roads, making the kit suitable for everyday driving, dynamic driving or a day at the track.
- Direct replacement: the kit is installed in place of the factory springs and dampers using the standard mounting points.
Why a matched kit matters
Fitting sports springs to standard dampers is a common upgrade, but standard dampers are not designed to control stiffer and shorter springs. Over time, this can cause the vehicle to bounce and lead to premature damper wear. As the springs and dampers are supplied as a jointly developed kit, Racingline avoids these compromises. You get the lowering and improved handling of sports springs together with the control and comfort of properly matched dampers.
The kit is not compatible with vehicles equipped with electronically adjustable DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) dampers or Magnetic Ride adaptive suspension. If the vehicle has factory electronically adjustable dampers, this kit is not suitable; a solution specifically designed for the DCC system is required.
Note: After installation, wheel alignment of all four wheels is recommended to ensure correct geometry and even tyre wear.
