The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
During fast cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This results in significant chassis twisting and body deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
