The vehicle’s chassis or body is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is mainly caused by the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, the transfer of mass when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This results in significant deformation and flexing of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The fender brace helps increase the rigidity of this area of the body.
