The vehicle’s suspension is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. High loads occur mainly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of mass can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the body, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Body deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
