The vehicle’s suspension is subjected to high loads when driving fast, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can result in significant bending and twisting of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the suspension during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
