The vehicle’s suspension is one of the parts subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is especially true because of the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Suspension deformation and twisting when cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
