The car body is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly true because of the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When driving through a corner, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This places significant loads on the body, causing it to twist and consequently reducing tyre grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation in corners can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The anti-roll bar helps limit body roll and improve control of the vehicle.
