The vehicle chassis is the part most heavily stressed by the driver’s driving style. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or decisive acceleration.

When driving through a corner, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force 3 times greater than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.

Deformation and twisting of the chassis when cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
