The car body is the part subjected to the greatest stress while driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This can result in significant chassis twisting and body deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting in corners can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
