A vehicle’s suspension is exposed to the greatest loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of mass can cause forces on one side of the vehicle to be up to three times greater than on the other. This places heavy loads on the suspension, twists the body and causes a loss of tyre grip.
Twisting and deformation of the suspension while cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
