The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.

In certain situations, weight transfer when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. The result is significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or bodywork, causing the tyres to lose grip.

Deformation and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
