The vehicle chassis is subjected to high loads during fast driving, mainly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can cause significant bending or twisting of the chassis, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while driving through corners can cause unwanted driving characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
