The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest stress while driving. This is particularly evident when the body mass is transferred during fast cornering, hard braking or acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. This results in greater chassis flex, deformation and body twisting, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower brace helps increase the rigidity of this section of the body.
