The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body mass when cornering at speed, braking hard or accelerating intensely.
In some cases, the transfer of mass in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to 3 times greater than the other. This results in significant bending and twisting of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis in corners can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The brace is designed to reduce unwanted chassis bending.
