The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident when the weight of the body is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.

In some cases, weight transfer while cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.

Deformation and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
